United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) is to be reformed on the principle of a divisional structure, IAA PortNews journalist cites Vladimir Shmakov, USC President, as saying at the meeting of the Marine Board under the Government of the Russian Federation.
The reform is set forth by the USC development strategy till 2030. It is to renounce the territorial principle of the Corporation subdivision with a transition to the management system based on product-focused division.
Some of the meeting participants doubted the reasonability of this system as different ships and vessels can be manufactured by an enterprise and the criteria to refer such a shipyard to this or that division are not clear.
United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 60 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, OSK consolidates about 80% of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
