The development of the fields in the Kara Sea will require 500 support ships, IAA PortNews journalist cites Rosneft Vice President Andrey Shishkin as saying at the meeting of the Marine Board under the Government of the Russian Federation. According to him, the United Shipbuilding Corporation cannot meet such requirements so the vessels are to be specially built, in foreign countries as well. To avoid it in the future, Rosneft as a part of a consortium plans to acquire the Bolshoy Kaman super-yard project (Primorsk territory) and some other assets of the Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center.
According to the RF Ministry of Industry and Trade, total demand of Russia’s major customers numbers 1,200 vessels and marine facilities to be built by 2030.
