MSC to hike rates on North Asia-Australia trade

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) will implement a General Rate Increase (GRI) on all shipments from North Asia (Korea-China-Hong Kong-Taiwan to any Australian port, the Swiss container operator said in a press release.

The increased rate is effective as of October 24 2013 and will be $400 per TEU.

Geneva-headquartered Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC) was founded in 1970. Now it is the world's second shipping line in terms of container vessel capacity. MSC's fleet, which operates in all major ports of the world, comprises 444 vessels and has a capacity of 1,925,000 TEUs.
