On 27 September, 2013 Ust-Luga Container Terminal (ULCT), a part of NCC group, dispatched its 100th container train, the company announced. The train delivered 77 containers (144 TEU) with automotive components for Volkswagen plant in Nizhny Novgorod. In total, ULCT dispatched 12 949 TEU on container trains. The first train was handled by the terminal in October, 2012.
Ust-Luga Container Terminal is a container terminal of NCC Group in Ust-Luga port. The construction is being implemented in three phases. The first phase was put into operation in 2011. Its capacity is 440,000 TEUs, total area – 50.4 hectares, depth near berths – 13.5 m, capacity of container ground – 15,000 TEUs, capacity of refrigerated area – 840 sockets, handling equipment – 4 STS (Panamax), 11 RTG, 2 RMG. The terminal is intended to satisfy the growing demand for transshipment of Russian container cargoes and reduce the dependence of Russian consignees on the ports of Finland and the Baltic states.
