Throughput of Russian seaports up 3.8% to 437.7 mln t Jan-Sep’13
In January-September, 2013, seaports of the Russian Federation handled 437.7 mln t of cargo (+3.8%, year-on-year), says Association of Commercial Sea Ports.
In the reported period, transshipment of dry cargo remained at the level of the previous year - 189.1 mln t including 76.3 mln t of coal (+16.2%), 32.9 mln t of containerized cargo (+3.5%), 9.4 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+16.2%), 5.6 mln t of ore (+3%). Transshipment of ferrous metal dropped to 16.8 mln t (-16.5%), grain – to 11.1 mln t (1.7 times), timber – to 3.4 mln t (-28%). Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo hit 248.6 mln t (+6.8%) including 154.4 mln t of crude oil (+5.4%).
Transshipment of export cargo was up to 342.5 mln t (+2.8%, year-on-year), import cargo – 34.5 mln t (+4%), transit cargo – 35 mln t (+6.8%), coastal trade cargo– 25.7 mln t (+13.5%).
Operators of sea terminals in the Arctic Basin Оhandled 35.1 mln t of cargo (+26.1%, year-on-year). Transshipment of dry cargo climbed by 1.9% to 18.6 mln t, liquid bulk cargo – was up 1.7 times to 16.5 mln t. The surge of liquid bulk cargo transshipment is driven by the increased turnover of crude oil at Belokamenka terminal. Total throughput of port Murmansk hit 23.3 mln t (+39%), port Varandey – 4 mln t (up 2.1 times). Throughput of port Arkhangelsk dropped to 3.5 mln t (-13.4%), port Vitino – to 2.3 mln t (-18.9%).
Throughput of Baltic Basin seaports increased to 160.4 mln t (+3.8%) including 60.9 mln t of dry cargo (+7.6%), 99.5 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+1.6%). Throughput of port Ust-Luga surged to 45.7 mln t (+37.9%), Vysotsk – to 12.4 mln t (+28%), Kaliningrad - 10.3 mln t (+10.2%), while throughput of port Primorsk and Big Port St. Petersburg fell to 48.1 mln t (-16.2%) and 43 mln t (-2.3%) respectively.
In the Azov-Black Sea Basin, seaports handled 128.2 mln t of cargo (-3.1%, year-on-year) including 44.8 mln t of dry cargo (-14.1%) and 83.4 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+4.1%). Throughput of port Novorossiysk declined to 84.4 mln t (-5.1%), Tuapse – to 12.7 mln t (-5.2%), Rostov – to 7.9 mln t (-5.3%), Kavkaz – to 5.6 mln t (-19.1%). In the same period, operators of port Taman boosted cargo transshipment to 6.2 mln t (3.2 times).
The ports of the Caspian Basin handled 5.9 mln t of cargo (-25.2%, year-on-year) including 2.3 mln t of dry cargo (-37.9%) and 3.6 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-14.1%). Throughput of port Makhachkala dropped by 18.7%, Astrakhan – by 27.3%, Olya - 2.8 times.
The ports of the Far East Basin handled 108 mln t of cargo (+8.9%) including 62.4 mln t of dry cargo (+7.1%) and 45.5 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+11.4%). The following ports increased their throughput – Vostochny - 36.3 mln t (+17.3%), Vanino - 18 mln t (+21.5%), Nakhodka - 13.7 mln t (+7.7%), Vladivostok - 10.7 mln t (+7.5%). In the same period, throughput of port Prigorodnoye declined to 11.9 mln t (-2.1%), De-Castri – to 5.1 mln t (-7.2%), Posiet – to 4.1 mln t (–6%).
