USC to increase offshore cargo handling at port Kavkaz by 23% in 2013

Universal Stevedoring Company LLC (USC, Azov-Don Shipping Company) has signed contracts for offshore handling of 800,000 tonnes of cargo at port Kavkaz, which is a 23-pct increase, year-on-year, Water Transport journalist learnt from Timofey Leshchenko, USC Director General.

“The range of cargoes comprises grain and sulphur”, Leshchenko said.

According to him, the share of grain being handled at the anchorage of port Kavkaz increased 8-fold as compared with the navigation of 2012. He says the port provides price advantages against the deepwater ports of Ukraine.

Azov-Don Shipping Company commenced offshore cargo handling at port Kavkaz from April 2012. This year, they started on May 6 and will operate until the end of river navigation depending on the weather conditions. Last year, USCclosed the navigation period on December 12.
