In January-September 2013, North-Western Shipping Company OJSC carried 4.9 mln t of cargo (+35%, year-on-year), the company’s press center says.
Transportation of export cargo climbed by 29% to 2.4 mln t, import – by 57% to 0.75 mln t. Cargo traffic between foreign ports surged by 47% (1.73 mln t).
Transportation of ferrous metal climbed by 52.5 % to 1.106 mln t, construction cargoes – by 61% to 318,000 t, fertilizers – by 43.5% to 804,000 t, timber – by 65% to 400,000 t.
“The positive dynamics of NWSC performance has been driven mainly by the deployment of new efficient vessels of projects DCV36 and RSD49,” the statement says.
