Kirinskoye gas and condensate field starts production

Kirinskoye gas and condensate field the Sea of Okhotsk has started production. Vladimir Putin took part via video linkup in the launch ceremony at the field, Kremlin press center says. According to the President, the gas from the Kirinskoye field will provide the resource base for the future liquefied natural gas plant. “This will be another big step forward for Russia in strengthening its position on the global energy market”, Putin said.

Gazprom holds licenses for three blocks within the Sakhalin III project: Kirinsky, Ayashsky and Vostochno-Odoptinsky. The Kirinsky block comprises the Kirinskoye gas and condensate field, as well as Yuzhno-Kirinskoye and Mynginskoye fields.

The Sakhalin III project gas will become the key resource base for the Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok gas transmission system. It will ensure gas supply to the Far East regions and implementation of Vladivostok-LNG projects.

Gas resources of the Sakhalin III project are estimated at some 1.4 trillion cubic meters. The bulk of them are concentrated in the Kirinsky block. Its C1 reserves amount to 162.5 billion cubic meters of gas and 19.1 million tonnes of gas condensate.
