The 10 largest carriers in the container trades to and from the US saw their first quarter 2013 liftings rise by 2% year-on-year to 4.8 million TEU, constituting a share of 67% of the total US trade for that period. MSC maintained its number one position, this based upon its dominance on the US import leg. Maersk Line was still the largest carrier of US exports and as such retained its second place overall, the company said in its press release.
