Container throughput of Odessa Commercial Sea Port up 24.7% to 5.48 mln t in Jan-Oct’13

In January-October 2013, Odessa Commercial Sea Port handled 5.48 mln t of containerized cargo (+24.7%, year-on-year), says the port’s press center.

In October, Odessa Commercial Sea Port handled some 600,000 t of containerized cargo (+15%, year-on-year).

Container throughput of the terminal at Karantinny Mol (operated by SC "HPC Ukraina") climbed by 32%, year-on-year, while container terminal in Khlebnaya Gavan (operated by "Brooklyn-Kiev Port"LLC) increased its container throughput by 10%.

Odessa Commercial Sea Port operates in one of the largest ports of the Black-Azov Sea Basin. Technical facilities of the port allow handling of more than 14 million tonnes of dry cargoes and 24 million tonnes of liquid cargoes annually. The port’s passenger terminal accepts vessels of up to 300 meters in length. In 2012, throughput of Odessa Commercial Sea Port fell by 4.3%, year-on-year, to 24.5 mln tonnes.
