Railport Scandinavia, the Port of Gothenburg's award-winning rail transport system, now has its own website, Port of Gothenburg says in its press release. The website presents all the terminals in the system and by using the search function on the homepage, the visitor can search for a terminal based on geographical location or the required terminal services.
It will now be even easier for Port of Gothenburg customers to find the right terminal to transport their goods by rail. The majority of terminals in Railport Scandinavia underwent an evaluation during the autumn using a special rating system. The results can be seen at www.railportscandinavia.com. This will allow customers to see clearly which services each terminal offers and which rail service provider operates to and from the terminal.
"The website is a good example of how we make it easy for our customers to find new, climate-smart ways of transporting their goods. The search function makes it simple to find a terminal that is suitable geographically and which offers the services the customers require," says Stig-Göran Thorén, Head of Rail Operations at the Port of Gothenburg.
Transporting goods to the port by rail also means reduced carbon dioxide emissions. During 2012, around 60,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide were saved compared with if the goods were transported to the port by road. This is equivalent to emissions from 17,000 passenger cars for a whole year. The webpage for each terminal shows clearly the environmental savings that can be made by using that particular shuttle.
