Many states “line up” for observer status in Arctic Council, says Russia’s representative in AC
Many states have “lined up” for observer status in the Arctic Council, IAA PortNews journalist cites Anton Vasiljev, Russia’s representative in the Arctic Council, as saying at the 2nd International Conference “Northern Sea Route” in Saint-Petersburg.
According to him, the interaction with observer states is based on mutually beneficial approach. The main principle of participation in the Arctic Council is the respect of the Arctic States’ rights and sovereignty.
Anton Vasiljev emphasized that arctic regulations are set forth by Arctic states in compliance with the international legislation.
