Ukrainian ports accepted 293 cruise ships in navigation of 2013

During the cruise navigation of 2013, seaports of Ukraine accepted 293 cruise ships, which is 98 calls more as compared with the previous year, says Ukraine’s Ministry of Infrastructure.

The year of 2013 saw the revival of Black Sea cruises by M/V Adriana calling on Odessa, Sevastopol, Yalta, Feodosia, Novorossiysk and Sochi. Over this period, the ship made 60 calls at Ukrainian ports. 

Seaport of Odessa accepted 106 cruise ships and serviced 81,367 passengers, Yalta - 109 ships and 77,880 passengers, Sevastopol - 58 ships and 23,400 passengers, Feodosia - 18 ships and 3,479 passengers, Yevpatoria and Kerch accepted one ship each. 

All in all, the ports of Ukraine were visited by 186,496 foreign passengers in 2013 (54,825 passenger more as compared with 2012). 

According to the statement, the number of calls at Ukrainian ports has increased by 40% over the past 5 years with the number of passengers having increased by 53.4%. German tourists account for the majority of foreigners visiting the Black Sea region (23.2%), Great Britain – 17.7%, Italy – 12.4%. The share of CIS tourists was 6.1% (up from less than 1% in 2012).
