On 6th of November, the "World Shipping (China) Summit 2013" was grandly held in Ningbo. China Merchants Group acted as its special sponsor. Mr. Su Xingang, Vice President of China Merchants Group, was invited to address the attendance. Mr. Zheng Shaoping, Deputy General Manager and Executive Director of CMHI, accompanied by affiliated terminals’ representatives to attend the Summit, on which they discussed the development opportunities in the economic downturn with concerned customers home and abroad, the company said in its press release.
Centered upon the theme of "Responding to New Realities" with special concerns on the impact posted by the China's economic restructure on shipping industry, the Summit’s agenda focused on topics of "China Factor" Evolution, Future of Shipping Strategy, Pros and Cons of Cross-industry Competition, Opportunities and Risks in Industrial, Investment and Finance, Responding to New Realities, Industrial Restructuring etc. The year of 2013 is still full of challenges for the shipping industry. COSCO and China Merchants Group, co-organizer and special sponsors of the Summit, have led a long-term cooperation and COSCO Shipping Company is a key customer of CMHI. On the meeting, both parties highly valued the partnership and share a common spirit of working together in such a hardship.
On the eve of inauguration of the Summit, Mr. Zheng Shaoping, Mr. Yan Gang, GM of SCT, Mr. Li Yubin, General Manager of CMHI's Commercial & Strategy Planning Dept., visited China Merchants Internationals Company Ltd. Ningbo Daxie (CMICT). Mr. Geng Honghai, the Chairman and CEO of CMICT, together with his management team, reported the achievements that CMICT has made on terminal operation, technological renovation, company culture etc. during the past decade, the operation of the company in the first three quarters of 2013 and future working plan. Mr. Zheng Shaoping fully appreciated the achievements that CMICT has made so far. He hopes that CMICT will continue its efforts to carry on the good performance and renovation, and eventually enhance the company’s value.
Accompanied by Mr. Geng Honghai and Fang Jianbo, General Manager of CMICT, Mr. Zheng Shaoping and his delegation visited Ningbo Port Group. Mr. Cai Shenkang, Vice President of Ningbo Port Group and managers of related departments introduced the development of Ningbo Port on sea-rail business and container transportation etc. Both sides exchanged views with each other.
