Annual transit traffic at Northern Sea Route to make 5.7 mln t in 3-5 years, says Atomflot Director General
Annual volume of transit shipping via the Northern Sea Route will make 5.7 mln t in 3-5 years, IAA PortNews journalist cites Vyacheslav Ruksha, Director General of FSUE Atomflot, as saying at III International Conference “Marine Insurance in Russia 2013”, which opened in Moscow on November 21.
«It is realistic, but market trends are essential”, he added.
According to Vyacheslav Ruksha, NSR is currently considered as the way for transportation of Russian crude hydrocarbons to foreign markets.
He believes that the Northern Sea Route cannot be considered as a competitor of Suez Canal, which passes some 800 mln t of different cargoes annually.
NSR transit traffic of 2013 makes about 1.3 mln t .
