Throughput of Port Vanino up 33% to 6.15 mln t in Jan-Oct’13

In January-October 2013, Vanino Commercial Sea Port (Port Vanino OJSC) handled 6.15 mln t of cargo (+33%, year-on-year), says the stevedore.

Export coal accounted for over a half of this volume – 3.19 mln t (up 3.2 times). 

In the reported period, transshipment of export cargo amounted to 4.2 mln t, import - 881,500 t, coastal trade cargo (including shipments for Sakhalin regulation by ferries) – 929,400.

Apart from coal, the company handled ferrous metals (321,700), timber goods (558,000 t) and alumina (847,200).

According to Director General of Port Vanino Oleg Tkachev, the company plans to handle 7 mln t by the end of the year.

Port Vanino is Russia’s seaport of federal importance located in the deepwater Vanino Bay (Khabarovsk region). The port’s major stevedoring company – Vanino Commercial Seaport OJSC - is the largest stevedoring company of Khabarovsk region. It provides handling and forwarding services. Cargo is delivered via Vanino to the north-eastern regions of Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of APR. The length of the port’s berthing line is about 2.5 kilometers. The berths occupied by three industrial complexes are equipped in compliance with their specialization.

 In 2012, the port’s throughput increased by 6.5% to 20.3 mln t, ACSP says.
