TransContainer launches new container train Kaliningrad - Moscow

TransContainer and the Kaliningradskaya railway (RZD branch) launches new container train on the route Kaliningrad – Moscow, TransContainer says in its press release.

First train (57 flatcars length) departed on 19 November 2013 from the TransContainer terminal Kalinigrad-Sortirovochny of the Kalinigradskaya railway to the destination point Kupavna of the Moscow railway. The train consists of the TransContainer flatcars and estimated time of the route is 2,5 days.

The train is oriented for transportation of TransContainer containers with polyethylene terephthalate under the trade mark Eköpet - the products of LLC Alko-Nafta, the resident of special economic zone of the Kalinigradskaya area.

TransContainer intends to attract additional freight as a result of introduction of competitive service Kaliningrad - Moscow in terms of cost and time of delivery.

TransContainer OJSC operates as a subsidiary of Russian Railways OJSC from July 2006. The company owns 46 terminals in Russia’s major freight centres, with its branches covering the entire Russian railway network. The company’s major shareholder is Russian Railways with 50% +2 shares. FESCO holds 23.7%, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development 9.25%, Transfingroup CJSC 5.1%.  In 2012, container transportation by the rolling stock of TransContainer OJSC increased by 8.9% to 1.48 mln TEUs.
