A reception devoted to the presentation of SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2014 took place on November 21, 2013 in Moscow Residence of the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Russia Timothy Earle Barrow with the support of Sovcomflot (SCF) and Sail Training International who are official organizers of the Regatta.
SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2014 is a unique maritime event set to take place on the Black Sea in Spring 2014, first time under the Russian flag. It will host sailing ships of all descriptions, including famous Russian Tall Ships: Mir, Kruzenshtern, Sedov and Nadezhda. The Regatta will cross the Black Sea twice and ancor in four ports: Varna, Novorossiysk, Sochi and Constanta.
The main goal of the Regatta is to open the Southern sea gates of Russia, promotion of marine tourism and yachting on the Black Sea, strengthening of good neighborly relations between countries, development of infrastructure and popularization of marine professions among young people.
Within the framework of the Regatta, the world’s largest Tall Ships will call at Sochi, the capital of XXII Winter Olympic Games.
The Regatta has been traditionally supported by the heads of participating states. RF President Vladimir Putin addressed the guests and sportsmen with a welcoming speech. The President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev and the President of Romania Traian Băsescu are also official patrons of the Regatta.
The organizer of the Regatta is Sail Training International, that is running Tall Ships Regattas all over the world starting from 1956.
The press-conference for journalists was held with participation of Robin Snouck Hurgronje, Director of SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta, Chairman of Sovcomflot Sergey Frank and Deputy Minister of Transport and Chairman of Organizing Committee Victor Olersky.

SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2014 is a unique international tall ship race which is to run along the Black Sea coast of the Russian Federation in May 2014, two months after the Winter Olympics in Sochi. It will host the largest sailing ships of the world including Russia’s Mir, Kruzenshtern, Sedov, Pallada and Nadezhda.
Training Tall Ship Mircea (Romania) which celebrates her 75th anniversary in 2014 will participate together with other Romanian vessels : Adornate и Apolodor. Bulgaria will be represented by Kaliakra and Royal Helena. Rah Naward representin the Navy of Pakistan will also join the international Regatta. Johanna Lucretia (Great Britain), Pandora (Italy), Atyla (Spain), Bodrum (Turkey) have also confirmed their participation in SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2014.
