Krylov State Research Center developed project of multi-purpose dry cargo carrier of unrestricted navigation (graphics)
Specialists of Krylov State Research Center have developed a project (technical proposal) of an ice-class multi-purpose dry cargo carrier of unrestricted Arctic navigation, press center of KSRC announced.
The vessel will be able to transport spent nuclear fuel in special shipping packages (ТУК ŠKODA VPVR/M, ТУК-19, ТУК-18, ТУК-13, ТУК-6 etc.) without extra transshipment in intermediate ports.
According to the statement, the global fleet has currently no marine vessels capable of sailing in challenging Arctic conditions and complying with the requirements of the nuclear waste code.
Vessel’s parameters: length max – 139.7 m, length overall – 148.1 m, width max – 16.4 m, draught: in sea districts – 6.2 m, at inland water ways – 3.6 m.
Krylov State Research Center was set up in 1894 as Russia’s first model testing basin in the central part of St. Petersburg. It is a scientific research organization of the national shipbuilding sector focused on conceptual and workshop designs of naval ships, merchant vessels and offshore structures as well as on their operation and disposal.
