Krylov Center and Fincantieri S.p.A. (Italy) will develop new drillship project (graphics)

FSUE Krylov State Research Center in conjunction with the Italian shipbuilding corporation Fincantieri S.p.A. have commenced implementation of a large-scale project on the development of a state-of-the-art hi-tech drillship. According to Krylov Center’s press release, the memorandum on the first joint project was signed on November 26, 2013 during the Italy-Russia Business Forum.

The vessel is intended for round-the-year off-shore exploratory drilling. 

The joint project within the framework of Italy-Russia cooperation will lead to partial localization of equipment production in the Russian Federation and the use of national shipbuilding equipment and materials. 

Further cooperation of Krylov Center and Fincantieri S.p.A. implies the creation of hi-end vessels and facilities. 

According to the statement, it will be a mutually beneficial cooperation. The Russian company gets access to technological and production know-how in the sphere of hi-end shipbuilding. Fincantieri S.p.A., in its turn gets an opportunity of further technological progress with the acknowledged design expertise of Krylov Center and its unique experimental capability.
