New shipyard should be built in the North West of Russia. According to IAA PortNews journalist, this opinion was expressed by Mikhail Remizov, Chairman of the Presidium of the Military-Industrial Commission’s Expert Board under the Government of the Russian Federation, President of National Strategy Institute, at the All-Russia Forum “Shipbuilding and Shipping in Russia: new solutions and economic efficiency” being held in Moscow.
Mikhail Remizov says the construction of new shipbuilding facilities in the North West of Russia does not contradict to the construction of a shipbuilding complex on the bases of the Far Eastern shipyard Zvezda (Primorsk territory).
According to the expert, shipbuilding development programme till 2030 is focused more on financing of R & D projects while technical re-equipment of shipyards is to get only 8% of total financing.
