Throughput of port Ventspils (Latvia) down 5.3% to 28.8 mln t in 2013

In January-July 2013, Free Port of Ventspils handled 28.8 mln t of cargo (-5.3%, year-on-year), the port authority says. According to the release, four of the port’s ten terminals increased their throughput.

Throughput of Ventbunkers terminal surged by 42%, Ventall – by 68%, Ventspils Commercial Port – by 2%, Ventplac -  by 1%. Throughput of Ventspils Nafta Terminals dropped by 18%, Kalija parks – by 11%, Baltic Coal Terminal – by 10%, Ventspils Grain Terminal – by 51%, Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals – by 2%, Ventamonjaks Serviss - by 17%.

Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2012 the port’s throughput increased by 7% to 30.4 mln tonnes.
