Throughput of Port Vanino OJSC up 32% to 7.1 mln t in 2013
In January-December 2013, Port Vanino OJSC handled 7.1 mln t of cargo (+32%, year-on-year). According to the stevedore’s press center, it is the record high result over the past 20 years.
Export cargo volumes doubled to 4.9 mln t including 3.8 mln t of coal (up 3.3 times), 620,000 t of timber and 379,000 of ferrous metal.
In January-December, the port handled 999,600 t of import cargo. Transshipment of coastal trade cargo (including ferry shipments towards the Sakhalin Region) hit 1.1 mln t. All in all, the port handled 914 vessels (including 500 ferries) and 79,800 open-top wagons.
Director General of Port Vanino Oleg Tkachev says the company intends to increase its throughput to 9 mln t in 2014.
Vanino Commercial Sea Port OJSC is the largest stevedoring company of Khabarovsk region. It provides handling and forwarding services. Cargo is delivered via Vanino to the north-eastern regions of Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of APR. The length of the port’s berthing line is about 2.5 kilometers. The berths occupied by three industrial complexes are equipped in compliance with their specialization.
