In January-December 2013, Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 17.13 mln t of cargo (+4.4%, year-on-year, and 4.66% against the plan), the stevedoring company says.
The growth is mainly driven by increased transshipment of coal (+551,390 t, or +4.4%) and apatite concentrate (+542,520 t, or +54.25%).
In 2013, the company exported 13.091 mln t of coal, 1.54 mln t of apatite concentrate, 1.25 mln t of iron ore concentrate, 335,630 t of non-ferrous metal; imported 211,390 t of manganese ore; transported 471,080 of coastal trade cargo.
In the 12-month period, the port handled 509 vessels and 245,500 wagons.
Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC was established in 1994 on base of the public enterprise and nowadays it is one of Russia’s busiest ports. The port has 17 berths with total length of some 3,000 meters. The length and depth enables the port to handle vessels of up to 15.5 meters in draught and over 265 meters in length. In 2012, the company handled 15.69 mln t of cargo.
