In 2013, Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg OJSC handled 7.8 mln t of cargo (-11%, year-on-year), the company announced.
The company attributes the decrease mainly to the decline in transshipment of ferrous metal due to fall in demand at the global markets.
In particular, transshipment of ferrous metal fell by 28% to 1.9 mln t. Transshipment of non-ferrous metal declined by 9% to 1.5 mln t. However, transshipment of scrap metal climbed by 13% to 0.9 mln t.
The company’s total turnover of general cargo hit 5.7 mln t (-18%, year-on-year).
The past year saw an increase in transshipment of dry loose and bulk cargo (+15%, year-on-year) to 2.1 mln t driven by increased transshipment of mineral fertilizers (up 1.5 times) to 1.2 mln t.
Export flow of cargo handled by Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg declined by 8% to 6.1 mln t, import – by 20% to 1.7 mln t.
