Harbour Master of Big Port St. Petersburg has signed a decree on introduction of restrictions for ice navigation within the port water area and approaches to the port from January 31, 2014 if ice is 10-15 cm thick.
According to the decree, tug and tow trains are prohibited from ice navigation. Vessels without ice reinforcement are allowed for ice navigation only with icebreakers’ support. Vessels with category of Ice 1 and above are allowed for navigation in ice-covered waters either independently or with icebreaking escort.
