In January-December 2013, Taganrog Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 1.4 mln t of cargo (-6%, year-on-year), the company says.
The stevedore explains the decline with the reduction of dry loose and bulk cargo handled by the port – down 24% to 0.7 mln t – mainly due to unfavorable market situation. Grain transshipment plunged by 45% to 0.1 mln t; coal transshipment fell by 14% to 0.6 mln t.
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo declined by 8% to 0.2 mln t.
Transshipment of general cargo surged by 43% to 0.5 mln t including 0.3 mln t of metal (up 2.4 times).
Container throughput of Taganrog Commercial Seaport hit 7,200 TEUs.
In the 12-month period, the company handled 0.2 mln t of import cargo, 1.15 mln t of export cargo, 11,000 t of coastal trade cargo. The company handled 16,090 railway wagons and 406 vessels.
Taganrog Commercial Seaport OJSC is a key stevedoring company of the Taganrog port. In 2012, it handled 1.5 mln t of cargo. The major shareholder of Taganrog Commercial Seaport OJSC is UCL Port, stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding which controls a number of stevedoring assets in the South and North West of Russia.
