Throughput of Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk down 5.3% to 13.74 mln t in 2013
In 2013, Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ukraine) handled 13,749,000 t of cargo (-5.3%, year-on-year), the port’s press center says.
However, transshipment of ore, sulphur, grain and cargo carried by ferries exceeded the results of the previous year.
In particular, the port handled 2,714,000 t of ore (+104,000, year-on-year), 1,460,000 t of sulphur (+85,000 t), 2,251,000 t of grain (+22,000 t) and 1,559,000 t of cargo carried by ferries (+140,000 t).
SE Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk is a multipurpose international port, one of the largest ports in the Black Sea. The company operates specialized terminals and complexes capable of handling a wide range of cargoes – liquid bulk cargo, dry bulk cargo, general cargo. The port’s 29 berths can accommodate vessels of up to 100,000 tonnes in deadweight. Designed annual capacity of SCPI exceeds 30 mln tonnes.
The port’s container capacity is 1.15 mln TEUs. From 2007 the port can simultaneously handle 3 ocean-going 300-m long container carriers of over 5,000 TEUs in capacity. In 2012, the port handled 14.51 mln t of cargo.
