Throughput of port Gdansk (Poland) up 12.4% to 30.259 mln t in 2013
In 2013, the port of Gdansk (Poland) handled 30,259,295 t of cargo (+12.4%, year-on-year), the port says.
Transshipment of grain surged 1.4 times to 1,479,443 t, general cargo and timber – 18.2% up to 10,513,937 t, other bulk cargo (aggregates, sulphur, ore) – 38.8% down to 2,650,378 t, coal transshipment boosted 2.3 times to 4,589,254 t, transshipment of liquid fuel climbed by 2.6% to 11,026,283 t.
The port of Gdansk is a major international transportation hub situated in the central part of the southern Baltic coast. Besides handling bulk cargoes (oil, coal, metal ores) the port provides a number of line services linking it with the ports of the Baltic Sea and Western Europe (primarily ferry, construction and ro-ro lines). In 2012, port of Gdansk handled 26,898,136 t of cargo.
