Number of water transport incidents in Russia up 1.65 times to 48 cases in 2013
The number of incidents registered at water transport of the Russian Federation in 2013 was 1.65 times up, year-on-year, hitting 48 cases. According to Federal Transportation Inspection Service, there were no cases at sea characterized as “very serious” (with 2 cases registered in 2012). Death toll decreased 5 times to 2 persons.
The number of cases characterized as marine accidents surged 1.87 times to 43 cases.
As for inland water ways, the number of accidents increased from 4 to 5 cases with the death toll having increased from 1 to 11 persons with 49 injured.
