In 2013, Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg OJSC allocated RUB 224.8 mln for the development of port infrastructure and technical upgrading of the terminals, the company’s press center says.
The majority of allocations was spent for renovation of the technological and transshipment equipment. To boost handling of loose and bulk dry cargo the company acquired radio-controlled grapples, bucket loaders and semitrailers. Besides, new load-handling devices were bought to optimize transshipment of general cargo. Movable equipment and fork lift loader were put into operation at the ro-ro terminal.
Part of the resources was invested into modernization of the port’s security system and re-equipment of storage facilities. Besides, the past year saw some design works and outfitting of the border check point.
JSC Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg (included in UCL Port – stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding) is the largest operator, rendering services on handling of all types of dry cargoes in the Big Port St. Petersburg. It operates modern specialized terminals for handling of container, reefer, ro-ro cargoes, cars and metals. In 2013, Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg handled 7.8. mln. tonnes of cargo.
