First cruise ship in the Olympic period has come today to Port Sochi Imeretinsky. According to the press center of industrial group Basic Element, the Thomson Spirit is the first of seven cruise ships to stay in Sochi during the Olympic and Paralympic Games as floating hotels.
Thomson Spirit (owned by TUI Thomson) has 627 cabins to accommodate 1,254 passengers. The personnel numbers over 500 persons. The ship is 214.66 m long, and 27.26 m wide. There are 3 restaurants, 6 bars, night club, casino, two swimming pools, cinema, gyms, saunas, library, beauty salon and other recreation and entertainment facilities.
Port Sochi Imeretinsky will provide sub-agenting services to all vessels arriving in the port: acting in the interest of ship owners in the port, unloading and delivery of luggage, food supply and technical services. The vessels are chartered by FSUE Rosmorport.
Basic Element completed the construction of the cargo port in July 2012. Design capacity of its facilities is 5 mln t per year, maximum depth athe berth and in within the water area is 9.2 m. Investments into the port construction hit RUB 6 bln. Major purpose of the port was to handle cargo for construction of the Olympic facilities. The customer of the construction is Port Sochi Imeretinsky LLC. The cargo port is operated by Imeretinskaya Stevedore Company LLC. Both companies are incorporated by Basic Element.
The conversion of the cargo port into yacht marina will commence after the Winter Olympics 2014. Design capacity of the marina is 600-700 places.
