Bunkering tanker “Fortuna-1” is fully operational in Russian Far East

The one and only modern double-hull, double bottom bunkering tanker “Fortuna-1” started its operations in the ports of the Russian Far East since May 2009.
The Head of bunkering department of Daxin Petroleum Pte. Ltd. Roman Chaykun reveals the details of this dearing project for the Russian Far East: - Double-hull, double bottom bunkering tanker “Fortuna-1” (DWT 2021 tons, LOA 73.8m, BEAM 12.0m, M. DEPTH 5.2m, DRAFT 4.712m, was built by Sanyo Shipyard Co., Ltd, Hiroshima, Japan strictly for delivery of bunker fuels, according to Japanese and International standards) – the tanker is highly maneuverable, equipped with all modern safety, oil spill and pollution prevention, navigational, communicational equipment complying to all requirements of MARPOL ANEX V, as well as to all the requirements of the safety at sea. (SOLAS, MARPOL, etc.). We take a great care here at Daxin about environment, and therefore were carefully choosing a modern bunkering tanker that would not only suit us in terms of fast and in time delivery of marine bunker fuels but would also be safe for marine environment, and would be without doubt certified accordingly.
- What are the competitive advantages of bunker barge “Fortuna-1” in comparison to others, available today in the Russian Far East?
- Double-hull, double bottom bunker tanker “Fortuna-1” is registered under Russian flag and complies fully to the requirements of the Russian Maritime Registry, is ice reinforced and operates under Russian Region 2, which is equivalent of Unlimited navigation area. Fortuna-1 is equipped with 10 cargo thanks, that are all double valve segregated, totaling to 2234.730 cbm, and is capable to carry both fuel oil and gasoil. She is equipped with full range of modern bunker barge facilities including state of the art oil spill and pollution prevention equipment, speeding up to – 12-15 knots. The tanker is also equipped with lifting crane swl 1 ton L-11.3m. Currently she trades between ports of the Russian Far East: Vladivostok, Nakhodka, Vostochnyy, Olga, Plastun, Posyet, Slavyanka and others providing quick and in time delivery of marine bunker fuels to the end users.
“Fortuna-1” is equipped with two pumps of 600 cbm each for fuel oil and a single pump of 100 cbm gas oil, all three cargo pumps are capable of working together producing 1200cbm of fuel oil and 100cbm of gas oil per hour, she is also equipped with blender and portable laboratory on board, giving us an opportunity to carefully monitor the quality of bunker fuels on board. Taking this opportunity I would like to stress out that if the receiving vessel can accept and accommodate such rate of 1200cbm the bunkering operation which previously lasted for 15-20 hours (delivering 2000mt and more) now takes only 3-4 hours. This provides a tremendous opportunity to the vessels calling Russian Far East for bunkers only to shorten their stay and receive a cheapest and I would like to stress the CHEAPEST bunker fuels at the Asia Pacific region.
Today “Fortuna-1” – is the only bunkering tanker that fully meets and satisfies all the requirements of both International conventions and Russian Registry of shipping, as well as such well-known oil companies as ExxonMobil, Shell.
We are seriously doubt that there might be similar bunkering tankers in the Russian Far East as well as in Russia at the moment.
-What would be the effect of launching of that tanker, and how it will influence your company activities?
When we were considering to invest in double-hull, double bottom bunkering tanker, first of all, we were guided by our commitment to our customers to provide most competitive best and safest service of sale and delivery of marine bunker fuels.
