On March 15, Baltic shipyard Yantar (United Shipbuilding Corporation) will hold a ceremonial launch of the patrol ship Admiral Grigorovich, lead vessel in the series being built for RF Navy. The ceremony will be attended by the leaders of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, commanders of RF Navy, regional authorities and other officials.
The Admiral Grigorovich was laid down on December 18, 2010.
Under two contracts signed with the Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation, Yantar shipyard will build six patrol ships (frigates) of project 11356 developed by Severnoye Design Bureau OJSC. As of today, five vessels have been laid down with the completion of the series scheduled for 2017.
Patrol ship of project 11356 is intended for operations against surface ships and submarines of enemy in ocean and sea areas, repulsion of air attacks independently or as a part of ship formation.
