Throughput of Odessa Commercial Sea Port (Ukraine) up 7.4% to 4.07 mln t in Jan-Feb'14
In January-February 2014, Odessa Commercial Sea Port (Ukraine) handled over 4.07 mln t of cargo (+7.4%, year-on-year). According to the company’s press center, February throughput climbed by 8.5% to 2.243 mln t of cargo.
In February, transshipment of loose grain climbed by 26.7%, export containers – by 15.8% (in tonne equivalent), ore – by 5%, oil cargo – 18.9% and technical oils – by 7.1%. However, shipment of rolled ferrous metal dropped by 25%, liquefied hydrocarbons – by 28.9%.
On March 4, 16 vessels were under normal handling operations at the berths of the port.
Odessa Commercial Sea Port operates in one of the largest ports of the Black-Azov Sea Basin. Technical facilities of the port allow handling of more than 14 million tonnes of dry cargoes and 24 million tonnes of liquid cargoes annually. The port’s passenger terminal accepts vessels of up to 300 meters in length. In 2013, throughput of Odessa Commercial Sea Port fell by 5.3%, year-on-year, to 21.1 mln tonnes.
