Russian foreign trade turnover in January 2014 fell 2.4% on Jan. 2013, to $ 57.6 billion ($ 6.8bn - CIS countries, $ 50.8bn - non-CIS countries), the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia said on Friday.
Russian exports Russia in the reporting period totaled $ 39.2 billion, or a 0.6-percent gain from a year earlier. Of the volume a 86.9% growth accounts for trade with non-CIS countries and 13.1% - with CIS countries.
The bulk of Russian exports in January 2014 to non-CIS countries was fuel and energy products or 77.5% of the monthly volume vs 79.3% in January 2013.
The monthly volume of imports dropped by 8.3% from Jan. 2013, to $ 18.4 billion. Imports to non-CIS countries accounted for 90.5% of the total trade, while the share of CIS countries was 9.5%.
The inbound goods included machinery and equipment - 49.6 % (vs 48.8% in January 2013). The value of imports in this segment remained flat year-on-year, while the volume decreased by 8.6%.
