Kaliningrad port's operator reports a 30% cargo volume drop in Jan-Feb, to 503,900 tonnes

Cargo throughput at the terminals of JSC Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port (KSCP) in January-February 2014 decreased by 30% compared to the same period last year, to 503,900 tonnes, the port operator said in a press release.

Handling of exports in the reporting period fell 18.6% to 372,400 tonnes. Shipments of dry cargo dropped by 6.1% to 343,200 tonnes, of general cargo - by 7.4% to 276,300 tonnes.

The two-month volume of imports plummeted by 50% to 131,400 tonnes while container traffic at the terminals grew by 10.7% to 11,312 TEUs.

Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port is the largest stevedore company operating at the Port of Kaliningrad. The port is a gateway for intermodal traffic and major exports / imports flows passing through the region. In 2013, cargo throughput at KSCP totaled 4,068,000 tonnes.
