Duisburg gets a direct rail link with the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam on the Maasvlakte

From 11 March 2014, Duisburg has a direct rail link with the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam on the Maasvlakte, ECT said in its media release.

For this purpose the daily Betuwe Express that operates between the inland terminal DeCeTe Duisburg and the ECT Delta Terminal travels on to Euromax three times a week. Transit times between Rotterdam and the Ruhr will be even tighter and more reliable as a result. The Euromax Terminal handles vessels of the shipping lines Cosco, “K” Line, Yang Ming, Hanjin, China Shipping and United Arab Shipping Company, among others.

Early in the morning, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, companies in the Ruhr can access the containers which left the Euromax Terminal the previous afternoon on the Betuwe Express. Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday the train from Duisburg arrives back at the Euromax. All other working days the Betuwe Express connects DeCeTe Duisburg with the ECT Delta Terminal and vice versa. The terminals on the Maasvlakte are also linked with DeCeTe Duisburg on a daily basis via inland shipping.

The new direct rail link between the Euromax Terminal and DeCeTe Duisburg is part of the ever expanding service that European Gateway Services provides to shipping lines, logistic service providers and shippers. The network of European Gateway Services now covers around twenty inland terminals which are connected to the port of Rotterdam via high-frequency rail and inland shipping services.
