Container throughput of Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ukraine) up 25% to 40.03 TEUs in Jan-Feb'14
In January-February 2014, Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk handled 40.03 TEUs (+25%, year-on-year), the port’s press center says.
In the reported period, import hit 19.910 TEUs, export – 20.122 TEUs.
Presently, the port is handling 95,000-dwt container carrier MAERSK LA PAZ (China). Upon completion of the handling operations the vessel will leave for Odessa.
Besides, 32,000-dwt container carrier WESTERDIEK (Liberia) is to arrive in the port soon.
SE Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk is a multipurpose international port, one of the largest ports in the Black Sea. The company operates specialized terminals and complexes capable of handling a wide range of cargoes – liquid bulk cargo, dry bulk cargo, general cargo. The port’s 29 berths can accommodate vessels of up to 100,000 tonnes in deadweight. Designed annual capacity of SCPI exceeds 30 mln tonnes.
The port’s container capacity is 1.15 mln TEUs. From 2007 the port can simultaneously handle 3 ocean-going 300-m long container carriers of over 5,000 TEUs in capacity. In 2013, the port handled 13.74 mln t.
