NATO naval base could appear in the Crimea. The assumption was put forward by RF President Vladimir Putin when he addressed State Duma deputies, Federation Council members, heads of Russian regions and civil society representatives in the Kremlin. According to him, the Crimea should be part of a ‘strong and stable sovereignty’. Otherwise, the Russians and the Ukrainians could ‘lose’ the Crimea completely.
Putin also called on the Russian Parliament to ratify the Agreement on the accession of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol to the Russian Federation.
