Expert says Russian ports of Baltic Sea are not competitive compared to foreign ports

Russian ports of the Baltic Sea are not competitive as compared to the foreign ports, IAA PortNews journalist cites Valery Izrailit, BoD Chairman of Company Ust-Luga OJSC, as saying at the VII annual international conference TRILOGY in Saint-Petersburg.
According to him, aggregate cost of call at the ports of the Baltic states and Finland is much lower as compared with Russian ports.

“A call at the ports of Riga, Klaipeda or Kotka costs less than a call at Ust-Luga,” Valery Izrailit says.

A cargo liner coming to Russia has, for example, to pay twice: first when entering Big Port St. Petersburg and then when calling at port Ust-Luga though these are the ports of the same basin.
