Almaz shipyard launches coast guard ship of project 22460 built for FSB Border Guard
On March 24, 2014, Shipbuilding Company Almaz OJSC launched the coast guard ship of project 22460 (building number 505) built to the order of the Border Guard of Russia’s Federal Security Service. According to the shipyard’s press center, the ship is to be delivered to the customer in October 2014, almost a year ahead of the contract term.
The coast guard ship of project 22460 was designed by the Severnoye Design Bureau (Saint-Petersburg) and intended for controlling of the state border and territorial sea as well as for fighting terrorists and pirates.
The ship’s displacement is 630 tonnes, speed - 30 knots, cruising range 3,500 miles, endurance - 30 days, length – 62.5 m.
The boat is outfitted with modern navigation and communications systems and carries onboard a helicopter.
As of today, Shipbuilding Company Almaz is building serial ships of project 22460 (building numbers 506, 507 and 508) for Russia’s FSB Border Guard and a series of nine self-propelled floating cranes with the capacity of 35-150 t for RF Ministry of Defence.
Shipbuilding Company Almaz was founded in 1933 as a shipbuilding unit of USSR Coast Guard. Today Almaz is a modern manufacturer of the state-of-the-art military equipment. The company specializes in the construction of JHSV and high-speed interception / patrol boats, large and small ships, of high-specification air-cushion vehicles (ACV), civil boats and yachts for domestic customers and for export.
The company provides a broad range of maintenance, repair services and refitting of ships. The firm has two floating docks of carrying capacity of 3,000 tonnes and 2,500 tonnes, accordingly.
