Loading of giant bulk carrier Cape Toronto nears completion at port Ilyichevsk
Loading of giant bulk carrier Cape Toronto nears completion at berth No 1 of port Ilyichevsk. According to the press center of the state stevedoring company Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk, the 290-meter long Capesize vessel, which moored at the port on March 21 will be loaded with 129,000 t of pellets.
Loading/unloading operations are carried out by three lines with the use of three ship-to-shore cranes. The terminal handles up to 10,000 t of pellets per shift.
According to Yury Rasovsky, head of the terminal, the loading will be completed on March 29 allowing the terminal reach monthly throughput of 190,000 t. The Cape Toronto will leave the port tomorrow.
