Cargo throughput of Vanino Commercial Sea Port ("Port Vanino") for January-June 2014 increased by 2% compared to the same period a year earlier, to 3.6 million tonnes, the company said Monday in its press release.
The half-year coal exports rose 23% to 2.2 million tonnes, shipments of ferrous and non-ferrous metals totaled 274,400 tonnes, of forest products – 242,000 tonnes, of alumina – 383,000 tonnes, short sea traffic (including volumes carried by ferries for the Sakhalin Region) reached 458,000 tonnes.
In the coming months, the company expects a stable volume in the segment of bulk cargoes. The company says its top management work hard to attract goods from producers of steel and forest products.
JSC Vanino Commercial Sea Port is the largest stevedoring company of Khabarovsk region. Vanino Port is the nodal point connecting railway, sea and automobile transport lines. Different cargo is dispatched through Vanino to north-east regions of Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of APR. Convenient location of the port allows the shortest outlet to the sea for cargo coming from the west of the country by Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberian railways. The port operates 16 berths equipped with special facilities and cranes, storehouses and ground storage area. Depth at berths and technical means allow for processing vessels up to 45000 tons deadweight. Along with universal berths the stevedoring company operates ferry, container and alumina terminals, provides mooring operations, passenger transfer, water supply of vessels by means of port fleet. A year ago, cargo throughput at Port Vanino jumped 32% year-on-year to 7.1 million tonnes. Net profit (RAS) of Port Vanino surged 2.26 times to RUB 336.13 million.
