The number of vessels that passed the Suez Canal in the first half of the year grew by 3.5% compared to the same period last year, to 1388 ships, the Suez Canal Authority traffic statistics said.
The half-year vessel traffic figure includes 316 tankers, 509 container ships, 109 general cargo ships, 179 dry bulk carriers, 85 car carriers, 54 LNG tankers, 16 Ro-Ro vessels and 2 passenger ships.
Total six-month tonnage amounted to 77.4 million tonnes, up 7% year-on-year.
Yesterday, there was a total of 42 vessels that passed the Canal, including 17 southbound and 25 nothbound, of 1,990,524 net tonne.
