Russia eyes building in Crimea piers for accommodation of 293-m long cruise liners

Crimea will have passenger piers for receiving cruise ships up to 293 meters in length with draft up to 8.6 meters, the Ministry of Transport press office said.

Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov told the First Crimean Transport Forum in Alushta that passengers traveling on board larger cruise ships will be transported to the piers from offshore anchorage.

The official noted that total funds appropriated by the Russian government for programs aimed at the development of transport complex of Crimea in 2015 – 2020 reaches RUB 416 billion. Part of the money will be directed to the construction of the Kerch Strait transport bridge, of rail and road access to it.
