Throughput of port Helsinki (Finland) up 4% to 6.7 mln t in Jan-Aug’14

In January-August 2014, the port of Helsinki (Finland) handled 6.7 mln t of cargo (+4%, year-on-year), the port authority says. According to the statement, import climbed by 2% to 3.2 mln t, export – by 7% to 3.5 mln t. The port’s passenger turnover increased by 3% to 7.6 mln persons.

In August, the port’s throughput increased by 2% to 800,000 t. Import climbed by 1%, export – by 2%.

The Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland, the largest passenger port and the third largest in the Baltic Sea. In the first half of 2014, the port handled 5.1 mln t of cargo (+4%, year-on-year).
