Cargo loading on RZD network down 0.9% in Jan-Oct to more than 1 bn tonnes
Total volume of freight loaded across the network of JSC Russian Railways (JSC "RZD") in January-October 2014 dropped 0.9% on last year's figure to 1 billion and 20,8 million tonnes, the state-owned company said in a press release.
In the reporting period coal volume loaded on the RZD network rose 1.5% from the same period 2013, to 258 million tonnes, coke shipments increased by 3.3% to 9.8 million tonnes, crude oil and oil products loaded volume rose 2.7% to 211,7 million tonnes, of iron and manganese ore - totaled 90,5 million tonnes (-2%), of ferrous metals — 59,3 million tonnes (+1.6%). The volume of handled ferrous metals scrap remained unchanged and totaled 13,9 million tonnes. Loading of chemical and mineral fertilizers rose 6.6% to 41,1 million tonnes and of timber cargo – by 7.7% to 32,3 million tonnes, while shipment of cement decreased by 6.1% to 28,5 million tonnes.
Loading of grain and milled grain products soared 36.4% to 14,1 million tonnes. The ten-month volume of construction materials dropped by 17.5% to 122,1 million tonnes. Handling of ferrous ore and sulfur raw material fell by 6.4% to 16,3 million tonnes, of chemicals and soda – by 2.8% to 21,1 million tonnes. Loading of industrial raw and molding materials increased by 5.4% to 30.1 million tonnes.
In October, loading of freight on the network of RZD totaled 107,6 million tonnes, a 1.6-percent gain as compared to October 2013.
The monthly cargo throughput rose 2% year-on-year to 195,4 billion tariff t / km.
