Throughput of Tuapse Commercial Seaport up 7% to 13.1 mln t in 2014

In 2014, Tuapse Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 13.1 mln t of cargo (+7%, year-on-year), the Company’s press center says.

Transshipment of dry cargo increased by 17% to 6.4 mln t mainly due to advantageous grain market situation. In 2014, the Company handled 1.7 mln t of grain (up almost 2-fold). Exports of ferrous metal have not changed (1.7 mln t), coal transshipments increased by 1% to 2.7 mln t.

Besides, import of raw sugar surged by 83% to 196,000 t, import of vegetables increased by 2% to 112,000 t.

Transshipment of oil cargo remained at the level of the previous year – 6.7 mln t.

In general, transshipment of import cargo increased by 43% to 0.3 mln t, export – by 7% to 12.8 mln t. Exports account for 98% of the company’s turnover, imports – for 2%.

In January-December 2014, the Company handled 854 cargo vessels (including 379 dry cargo ships and 475 oil vessels) and 95,690 rail cars.

Tuapse Commercial Seaport OJSC is the main operator at the port of Tuapse, one of Russia’s largest ports. It is a part of UCL Port, stevedoring division of international transport group UCL Holding. UCL Port also consolidates OJSC Sea Port St. Petersburg, CJSC Container Terminal Saint Petersburg, Universal Handling Terminal LLC based in North-West of Russia, and Taganrog port in the South. The Company’s fleet of handling equipment numbers 29 cranes with the capacity range of 10 to 124 t as well as 65 loaders and bulldozers.
