In January-December 2014, Taganrog Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 1.164 mln t of cargo (-16%, year-on-year), the stevedoring company says.
According to the statement, the decrease should be attributed to emergency situations caused by weather conditions and to unfavorable foreign trade trends at the markets of the port’s major cargoes.
Transshipment of loose and dry bulk cargo declined by 5% to 651,00o t including 463,000 t of coal (-17%). Transshipment of grain surged by 56% to 157,000 t.
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo fell 2.3 times to 103,000 t.
Transshipment of general cargo fell by 12% to 410,000 tm construction materials – 2.2 times to 49,000 t, transshipment of metals and tubular goods remained flat at 292,000.
The company’s container throughput hit 7,700 TEUs.
Over the year, Taganrog Commercial Seaport handled 945,000 t of export cargo, 163,000 t of import cargo and 56,000 t of coastal trade cargo (81%, 14% and 5% respectively).
All in all, 13,418 rail cars and 341 vessels were handled at the berths of the company in the reported period.
Taganrog Commercial Seaport OJSC is a key stevedoring company of the Taganrog port. In 2013, it handled 1.4 mln t of cargo. The major shareholder of Taganrog Commercial Seaport OJSC is UCL Port, stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding which controls a number of stevedoring assets in the South and North West of Russia. In 2013, Taganrog Commercial Seaport handled 1.4 mln t of cargo.
